Part of Presque Isle to close for restoration

Local News

The colder temperatures are not slowing plans to restore a piece of history at Presque Isle State Park.  The plan is to take the next two days to work on the Erie Water Works Gear Tower which is located at the ferry slip.

That work will require closing the multi-purpose trail at that point over the next two days.  Crews will be lifting the tower and loading it onto a barge.  It will then be taken across the bay to the Donjon Shipyard for restoration.  Private donations are funding most of the work.
