Penelec spokesperson not worried about extra power consumption for the heatwave

Local News

We asked a spokesperson for Penelec if there’s concern that the heat might drive up electric consumption this weekend.  We were told it’s not a big concern.

Penelec Spokesman Scott Surgeoner told us that there is an ample supply of electricity available this weekend and that even if the heat drives up consumption, there is no real threat of outages.

The system is well prepared for the demands over the next few days, he told us.  “As to our level of concern, there really isn’t any.”

Surgeoner added that it’s always a good idea to conserve power to preserve supplies and to hold down your electric bill.
