PennDot holds a second public hearing to review detour plans.
In March of this year, PennDot announced they would be replacing an aging bridge on Route 20 in gGrard. During that March meeting, the public had expressed concern over the 15 mile long detour. Tonight, PennDot tells the public they changed the detour to only be closed during the night from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. During the day, Route 20 will be one lane eastbound and one lane westbound.
“The biggest problem we had here was with the bus traffic and stuff that was going to effect the buses and school so, we had to rethink how we were going to run the detours at night so that they wouldn’t effect the bus routes and keep it open for emergency vehicles,” said Bob Bell, bridge and structural design supervisor.
Construction begins in April of 2019 and is expected to be completed in August of 2020.
