PennDOT says the delays in repairing the ramps which connect West 26th Street to Interstate 79 are due to an equipment-sharing program used across Pennsylvania.
Work is nearing completion on the ramps. Problems arose when a group of motorcycle riders complained that ruts in the on-ramps were causing accidents; they feared someone could be killed (especially next week when thousands of riders attend Roar on the Shore).
A PennDOT spokesperson tells Action News that the complaints weren’t ignored, but repairs had to be delayed until the equipment being used elsewhere in the state could be returned to the area. We’re being told that the crews are working longer shifts to make sure the ramps are repaired as quickly as possible.
