The mixture of high winds and rain this morning caused some drivers to proceed with caution on the roads.
Currently, there are no commercial restrictions on the roadways in Erie County. A restriction is in place for a small part of I-80 in Venango County from I-79 East.
PennDOT has been out since midnight last night getting material on the road.
38 PennDOT trucks are spreading on the roads, which helps the ice melt.
PennDOT Assistant County Manager Tom Mello says, “it seems that we’ve had every type of winter this year; very cold, we’ve had rain; it’s hard on the roads when you have temperature swings like that. “
PennDOT encourages drivers to test their brakes before starting their commute and to take their time.
