The weather may have been in the high 60’s today, but PennDOT is already preparing for the winter season.
PennDOT says their work starts in the summer with refurbishing and painting the plows and wings. By October 1st at least 10 employees per day are working on putting those plows and wings on the 38 trucks. When they start preparing for winter, it has nothing to do with the weather. Tom Mello of PennDOT says, “Harrisburg mandates that all counties in Pennsylvania be 100% ready by November 1st for the winter…”
Meteorologist Tom Atkins says warmer weather is expected for another week and a half. If this keeps up, the lake will stay warmer longer and further delay that infamous lake effect snow.
