PennDOT teaches drivers and passengers about public safety

Local News

Before you take your next road trip, or even drive around town, PennDOT wants to remind you about safety.

PennDOT held a public safety event at the I-90 Welcome Center in North East.  Multiple agencies took part with a variety of safety tips such as reminding people to not leave children alone in hot cars.  They addressed allowing at least four feet of distance when passing bicyclists, as well as avoiding distractions.

Jill Harry, Spokesperson for PennDOT, says, “Texting and using the phone is probably one of the most prevalent ones, but even eating or even talking too much to passengers in the car can be a distraction.”

Visitors to the booths received free safety kits and even had a chance to use a distracted driving simulator.
