St. Vincent Hospital is doing their part to help more women detect at earlier stages breast cancer.
Saturday in the perfectly pink event, St. Vincent hospital, along with other Allegheny Health Network hospitals, held walk-in mammogram screenings.
The hospital was also using the new 3D mammogram machine that takes multiple small images of the breast.
Doctors say mammograms are for any woman of any age, but are especially recommended for woman 40 and older every year.
Dr. Jennifer Saldanha says, “If screening mammogram picks up something, it’s going to be at a much earlier stage and something can be done. And if something can be done at earlier point of time, the outcome and treatment is so much better.”
