One of the many activities at Discover Presque Isle was learning about the importance of trees.
Diane Esser, who is the founder of “I am a Planet Kid” was on hand teaching the kids about the importance of their partnership with the planet, an easy to understand program was presented to the kids that showed the importance of just one tree.
“They learn that just one tree holds up to 100 gallons of water after a rain storm. One tree can take out 48 pounds of carbon dioxide and a car puts out 20 pounds so we need a lot of trees,” said Esser.
Kids had a chance to plant their own tree to take home and watch grow.
