A 21-year-old man was fatally shot overnight.

The call came in around 1:30 a.m. Sunday for a gunshot victim at Buffalo Road and Downing Ave. in the parking lot of Rodger Young Park. The victim was shot in the chest.

“The detectives are currently interviewing the suspect and other people that were involved,” said Dan Spizarny, Erie City Police Chief.

The suspect has now been taken into police custody.

Erie Police have charged Michael Ochrang with aggravated assault, carrying a firearm without a license, possessing instruments of a crime and recklessly endangering another person. No homicide charges have been filed at this time.

Ochrang is currently being held on $250,000 bond.
