A popular animal exhibit is back at the Crawford County Fair this year. One that has everyone crowing for joy.
Last year, as a precaution against the spread of the bird flu, Pennsylvania was among several states that suspended avian competitions and exhibitions at local fairs — including Crawford County.
This was because of the highly pathogenic avian influenza, or HPAI, strains that went around. But this year, poultry is back at the Crawford County Fair.
Each bird has been tested for the avian flu 30 days prior to coming to the fair, but the threat is still always there.
There are 720 entries at this year’s fair and the people are happy they’re back.
