Statistics show 75-percent of employees have stolen from their employers at least once.

Now representatives with one local business are speaking out.

For Jessica Dhappart, August Industrial isn’t just a business. It’s family.

They’ve been supplying tool and die in Erie for the past 30 years.

But that earned reputation got knocked down, after uncovering potential theft within the company.

According to the Millcreek police, a longtime employee signed company checks for her own personal use 24 times, adding up to more than 22-thousand dollars.

Although it’s been a year since authorities pressed charges, the Dhappart’s say they’re still having trouble bouncing back.

Since that employee left, they’re down about 60 percent in sales.

Unfortunately, many businesses can relate to this problem.

Studies from SheerID show in the United States, every year 50-billion dollars are stolen from businesses by employees.
