A flag raising ceremony took place at Presque Isle State Park today after a new flag pole was donated by a long time park supporter.
The Presque Isle Light Station and members of the US Coast Guard conducted the flag raising ceremony at the Presque Isle Light House.
Erie Resident and long time supporter of the light house, Sally Kohler, donated the flag pole. This is the first time in several year a flag has waived outside of the Presque Isle Light House.
Kohler says, “I just thought it was appropriate because it’s one of the most beautiful places and we are a proud country and we wouldn’t be here it if wasn’t for those people and the flag stands for that”.
It is a fitting day for this dedication, as today is considered National Light House Day.
