Priest abuse report held back by PA Supreme Court members, AG Shapiro fights to release

Local News

The Pennsylvania Supreme Court is putting a halt to plans, at least for now, to release the grand jury findings on allegations of sexual abuse by priests in six Pennsylvania Dioceses, including Erie.

Attorney General Josh Shapiro had planned on releasing the findings by the end of the month, but some challenged that decision in court, saying a full release of information would be an injustice to some of the people named.

In a brief ruling that was unsealed, the court said there should be a review of the findings before anything is released.

Shapiro says his office will continue to fight to make those findings public.
