Prisoners give back to the community

Local News

Several hundred inmates are busy raising money for those in need.

Over the last 12 months, the Albion New Inmate Visionary Organization has raised and donated more than $13-thousand for those in need.

The money is raised by the inmates through their prison jobs which only pays them between 19 and 42 cents an hour.

Prison officials say the inmates come together to decide where the money should go.

The 210 inmates in the program donated their money to places like the Upper Room, the American Cancer Society, Blended Spirits Ranch and the Wounded Warriors Project.
