Program educating seniors about current scams tonight at Millcreek Municipal Building

Local News

Every day, more seniors fall victim to scammers and a local state representative wants to put an end to that.

Representative Ryan Bizzarro and the attorney general’s office are holding a townhall meeting tonight to help residents spot and avoid the latest scams targeting seniors.

Experts will give advice as to what to look out for when it comes to phone and internet scams.

A representative with Bizzarro’s office, Charles Deufel, says this is a growing problem for seniors in the region. “When they hear that there’s law enforcement agencies calling them saying that there’s an issue with, let’s say, their social security card or they owe back taxes and that kinda thing, it’s kinda confusing for them and they really don’t know what to do. This program tonight is going to educate them on what to do and how to prepare themselves so they don’t get scammed.”

The event will take place tonight at 6:30pm in the Millcreek Township Municipal Building on West 26th Street.
