Erie County Council read an ordinance to grow the list of discriminatory practices in housing and employment.
The County’s Human Relations Commission recommends revisions to include protections for individuals with a criminal history. Some landlords say it would undermine them, possibly putting their properties and neighbors at risk.
Nick Marinelli, Landlord and Harborcreek Resident, tells us, “You continually take away our rights to investigate the people that want to live in our investment properties; but then, you complain about us not having control over our tenants or why we are renting to bad tenants.”
The ordinance heads for a second reading at the next regular meeting on September 19th.
