A Meadville landmark is now the focus of preservation efforts.
The Railroad Depot was purchased by the French Creek Valley Railroad Historical Society. The building was home for nearly 50 years to Meadville Farm and Garden.
The group plans to use the building as a railroad museum and community center.
Mayor Leroy Stearns says, “these works align with the French Creek Corridor plan, which is already in place. It also goes in with the revitalization of Bicentennial Park. We’re looking at making French Creek a destination for the city of Meadville”.
The 1881 building originally served as a railroad passenger depot and freight house.
A schedule for the restoration of what will be known as the Meadville Railroad Depot is not yet available.
