St. Vincent Women’s Center opened its door for mammograms, hosting its ‘Perfectly Pink’ event.
As part of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, women were invited to walk in for a mammogram screening. Sherry Madonna is a nurse with St. Vincent and is also a breast cancer survivor. She says it’s important for any woman over 40 to get a mammogram. “Knowing that if they find it early and going through treatment, they’re going to be okay and that’s what makes it special. You know probably nine and half times out of 10 they’re going to be okay.”
Experts say early detection is the key to beating breast cancer. Organizers say they had record-breaking attendance this year.
