Safety and policing in the city of Erie were some of the issues raised by residents during a meeting with officials.
Mayor Joe Schember hosted his third brown bag lunch with residents this afternoon. It’s Schember’s monthly talk allowing residents to meet his administration and to share concerns and ideas in a small group setting.
Some members of the community, like Art Leopold, talked about safety and their hopes for more diversity in city government. “Every citizen has their own concerns. Today, mine is diversity in the workforce in City Hall… in administration, the fire, the police, on authority boards… It doesn’t look like the city, right now, and I’d like to continue to push for that.”
The lunch meetings require advanced registration. Mayor Schember says because of demand, the monthly meetings are already filled to capacity for at least the next three months.
