An Erie street is renamed to honor a long time community leader. Where Monroe Street intersects with East 26th Street is now known as Reverend Allen B. Green Way.
Green just recently retired. The Reverend sponsored the annual Thanksgiving dinners and weekly food pantries. “This is the highest in my years of living,” says Green. “I’ve graduated from the highest universities, international schools… I’ve been awarded 15 medals when I was in the United States Army… Nothing tops this.”
City Council passed the resolution to rename the street at Wednesday’s meeting.
