Saegertown’s annual Strawberry Festival is being canceled this year and organizers are blaming road work there. Saint Bernadette’s Catholic Church holds the annual fundraiser which has become one of the kickoffs to the summer season there.
In a statement from Parish Council President George Beisler the parish will still hold cash prize raffles to help offset the income lost from not having the festival. A number of road projects are altering traffic routes in the area including the rehab project to fix the Brookhouser Road Bridge and create a roundabout nearby.
The Parish Council looks to restart the festival next year. “Thank you for your past and future attendance” the press release concludes.
