Future military officers took to the field at McDowell Intermediate school Saturday.

The McDowell Junior Air Force ROTC program hosted their annual drill competition.

JROTC teams from around the tri-state area took part, showing their marching abilities and some impressive drill skills.

Chief Master Sergeant David Holmes says, “Only about 25 percent nation-wide ever join the military out of this program. But what they get out of it is self-discipline, self-confidence. They learn the true meaning of teamwork. They learn how to work together as a team.”

This is the 22nd annual drill competition.
