After months of construction, a barber shop is ready to get the business back on track after a refuse truck crashed into the building in June.
It was June 14th when a city garbage truck crashed through Ruiz Barber Shop on the corner of West 18th and Cherry streets. The building suffered severe damage. Since that day, Owner Cesar Ruiz has kept a small portion of the barber shop open in the back while construction crews worked to repair the glass.
Today is the first day clients came through the new front door. Ruiz tells us, “it was stressful because we had so many people and we couldn’t take care of them, but they have been good. It has just been a blessing on this corner”.
Several accidents have occurred at this corner. The city installed a new stoplight at the intersection on a small delay to hopefully prevent this from happening in the future.
