Crawford county neighbors are stepping up this weekend to help the Salvation Army save Christmas for families in need.
It was a steady stream of those neighbors dropping by with donations of toys and money. The emergency drive becoming a necessity after a refrigerator fire Thursday ruined the food and toys that were going to be distributed next week to some 200 families.
For Salvation Army staffers, it confirms what they already knew, that the people of Northwest Pennsylvania would not let families in need down this Christmas. Captain Jim Brown telling us, “It has been an excellent day today. It’s just a joyful occasion to see how the community is pulling together just to support us today”.
Because time is short, the emergency drive is for toys and money only. Donations will be accepted Saturday from 8am-5pm and again on Monday from 8am-5pm at the Salvation Army parking lot on Park Avenue in Meadville.
