Erie Mayor Joe Schember says his administration is starting to look at the security in City Hall. Currently, City Hall has no official security features, unlike the County or Federal Courthouse, there are no armed guards at the door or screening systems in place.
Schember says they are in the early stages of looking into what would be the best course of action to make City Hall a safer place for everyone. “Of course there is going to be some increased costs associated with that and we are going to have to look at that and see if there is any room in the budget, but it’s something we are looking at closely.”
Schember also says it could start simple, such as putting a greeter at the front door.
