The Erie School District continues to meet with state lawmakers on both sides of the isle in hopes of finding a solution in Harrisburg.
School district officials and lawmakers met for a third time on Thursday afternoon at the Washington Educational Center.
“At this point we are not sure if anyone will even give us a loan,” Erie School District Superintendent Jay Badams said. “If we can’t borrow the money, we have to request a loan from the state and that’s what triggers recovery status. We are worried about that.”
Badams said each year the district takes out a $12 million loan to pay bills before tax money comes through.
The Erie School Board is scheduled to vote on a district budget on June 29.
Badams is hoping they’ll know more at that point and that the budget will be balanced.
