The city of Erie’s summer recreation program is providing seasonal employment for both youth and adults.
Employees are already starting work around the city. More than 150 people will work during the city’s summer jobs program assisting the Department of Public Works and the summer recreation program.
Workers will earn $8-$10 per hour depending on positions and skills, but Mayor Joe Schember says they’ll gain a lot more “through the experience. Students will get financial literacy coaching, as well, as they develop their interpersonal skills and proper etiquette at work.”
The city expects as many as 8400 people to participate in the free summer activities.
