The Department of Labor and Industry Deputy Secretary of Workforce Development, Eileen Cipriani, stopped by LORD Corporation for a tour of the facility and to emphasize the importance of STEM (Science, Technology, Education and Mathematics).
The tour is part of Governor Tom Wolf’s ‘Jobs that Pay’ program. LORD Corporation has been progressive and have a STEM program in place for students in 5th-8th grade.
Cipriani tells us, “Science and technology are involved in our day to day activities. You can’t go 10 feet on a manufacturing floor without having computer technology, so this is important to train our workforce going forward”.
She also says it’s important to get to the students in the fifth grade and teach them about the subjects involved in STEM.
