You know it’s a sure sign that fall is coming when local farmers start bottling up fresh apple cider.
Thursday morning Godfrey Run Farm in Lake City started its apple cider season.
This is owner Gary Faulkner’s seventh year of pressing apples for cider using his own crop along with apples from nearby farms in North East.
Faulkner said despite the dry summer, this year’s apple crop is still a good one and is he looking to bottle over 500 gallons on Thursday alone.
He said buying local not only helps support our economy, but this is the freshest you can get.
“We are making it today and it will be ready to drink by tonight and it will be that way until New Year’s Eve” Faulkner said.
The cider will be available to purchase at by the weekend.
