Little Italy brings fresh produce to Erie residents with a farmer’s market.
The Sisters of Saint Joseph hosting the Little Italy Farmer’s Market every Monday between Myrtle and Chestnut Streets. The last Monday of the month features live music, local artists and plenty of fresh produce. One woman says her business, French Street Farms, is Erie’s First Commercial Urban Farm. It’s a business that she says took two years to come to fruition and is now in its first growing season.
“It was just an idea for a business that i had for Erie to put some vacant land back into reuse and give people more options for fresh local food,” said founder and owner Carrie Sachse.
Sachse says there is a lot of demand for fresh produce so, you’ll want to come early as many of the produce stands sell out fast. The next farmer’s market taking place august 7th from 3 to 6 p.m.
