Today marks the beginning of the fish hatching season for the Sons of Lake Erie hatchery.
For more than 30 years the Sons of Lake Erie have worked to hatch thousands of fish to release into the bay.
More than a million and a half walleye fish eggs were brought to Erie this morning from the Lionsville fish hatchery.
They are expected to hatch in 21 days and then soon after will be released into the bay.
The doors to the hatchery will be open to the public on April 30th and May 1st for their open house.
