State leaders say some people with convictions merit legal forgiveness, and they’re helping the community learn about pardons.
Lieutenant Governor Mike Stack hosting the pathways to pardons event in Erie. He was joined by State Representatives Pat Harkins and Ryan Bizzarro and the Office of State Representative’s Flo Fabrizio. The Lieutenant Governor says a pardon constitutes total forgiveness by the state, “and we’re not being soft on crime. We’re being strong on justice. Just because someone did something stupid 20 years ago, they should still be able to coach their kids’ team today.”
The application process usually takes about three years. Governor Tom Wolf granted 78 pardons last year.
