A new program has been unveiled to help educate youth and decrease poverty.

Stay Focused for the Future is a non-profit working to educate and mentor youth.

The group says research shows that whenever you have poverty, you are going to have crime, violence and a poor education system. Stay Focused for the Future is making education a priority to break poverty. The group says they believe reading is essential in empowering and inspiring youth to become future leaders who will give back to the community. The program is from the vision and mission of the president and founder Rodney Cray.

Stay Focused for the Future is working with the Erie School District to host after school programs for students. The curriculum is centered around education and building meaningful relationships between both children and parents. It also offers additional programs in music, wellness, dancing and art. Cray calls in a program unlike any other in the Erie area.

The non-profit is located in the Palace Centre on State Street.
