After a four hour long meeting, the debate about a bayfront path is not settled. It’s been nearly 2 years since a 1,000 foot public walkway was built by the Convention Center Authority at the former GAF site .
Ed Kissell of the S.O.N.S. Of Lake Erie filed a lawsuit after the walk way opened in September 2014.
Kissels argued the Convention Center authority did not comply with the zoning ordinance saying immediate access to the bay is not available with the barrier of rocks between the walk way and the water. The executive director of the authority disagreed. He says the pathway was built for fishers, bike riders, runners and the public. He said they are in compliance.
The board is expected to make a decision at their next meeting on September 13th.
