Strong overnight storm causes flooding around Erie County

Local News

Mother Nature brought lightning and heavy rain to the Erie region overnight, leaving behind a bit of a mess.

High water on Route 97 just off of the Interstate 90 exit near the casino stranded a car trying to travel through the storm.

In the city of Erie all underpasses were reportedly under water with Liberty Street seeing the worst of it.

Flatbeds and tow trucks were called to help remove vehicles that were stranded as drivers attempted to go through the water.

A lightning strike reportedly caused an attic fire at a home in the 5000 block of Hershey Road.

No injuries were reported during the overnight storm.
