Franklin — Franklin High School officials reversed a school policy after a father took to social media.
Shane Carey took to Facebook to express his displeasure that the school would not announced his son’s name at graduation on Sunday because he would not be at the ceremony.
His son, Tyler Carey, was unable to attend Sunday’s ceremony after he left early to join the U.S. Marines and was in boot camp.
Tyler Carey finished the requited credits, but the school said his name would not be called due to school policy that states that a student must be in attendance to have their name announced.
The school later reversed its decision.
“Ecstatic, and very thankful that policy was changed for today,” Shane Carey said. “I hope with this happening that policy will be permanently changed.”
