Suspect believed to be tied to mailing bomb-like devices to prominent democrats arrested

A suspect, Cesar Sayoc, is in custody; authorities confirming they believe this person is connected to the suspicious packages sent across the country.  

At least a dozen potentially explosive devices sent to frequent critics of President Donald Trump.  Today, the president is responding.  “These terrorizing acts are despicable and have no place in our country.”

The news comes as overnight, one intercepted in a mailroom in Florida, addressed to Senator Corey Booker.  Then, a couple of hours later, a block shut down in Manhattan after another package is discovered addressed to former Director of National Intelligence and current CNN Contributor James Clapper.

Clapper saying, “This is definitely domestic terrorism, no question about it in my mind,” while remaining defiant speaking on CNN, “This is not going to silence the administration’s critics.”

Authorities, zeroing in on South Florida to a postal facility just north of Miami.  Homeland Security confirming that at least some of the devices were shipped from Florida.

Authorities also confirm all packages share the same characteristics; six American flag postage stamps, padded yellow manila envelopes, a pipe bomb-type device inside, and all listing the return address of Congresswoman and former Head of the DNC, Debbie Wasserman Schultz.  Schultz commenting, “It’s devastating that my name is used in that way… It is sinister and evil.”

Officials have confirmed that Sayoc will ultimately be brought to New York and charged by federal prosecutors.
