ERIE, Pa. – The 2016 Tall Ships Erie festival brought in a record $8 million for the city of Erie, the Flagship Niagara League announced Thursday.
A record 90,000 people came to Erie’s waterfront to see nine different vessels from around the world.
The league raised $320,000 to support restoration of the U.S. Brig Niagara.
“We had 800 volunteers that were working hard for us and staff that has been planning this event two years out,” Shawn Waskiewicz, director the Flagship Niagara League, said.
The league is already working on preparations for the 2019 Tall Ships Erie festival.
