A teenager, charged with a January murder, is expected to appear in court today.

Keyon Lucas, 15, is charged with the January 23rd shooting death of Lavell Beason at the corner of East 22nd and Ash Streets.

In April, a judge continued the preliminary hearing for Lucas, after he appeared in court without an attorney. The prosecution went on record saying he denied a court appointed lawyer, and the judge warned Lucas if he shows up again without an attorney his charges will be bound over.

Lucas was one of two murder suspects arrested in Detroit earlier this year. He was found hiding with Grover Lyons, who was wanted for the New Year’s Eve shooting death of Darrin Germany.

The preliminary hearing is scheduled for 2:45 p.m.
