Telling texts presented in PSU hazing hearing

Local News

The second day of preliminary hearings took place for the Penn State hazing death of 19 year old Timothy Piazza.  Today’s testimony was directed at the texts of fraternity members after Piazza had died, that seemed to show a pattern of panic and cover up.

A State College Police Detective testified that Fraternity President, Brendan Young, texted to his girlfriend that “At the end of [the] day, I’ll be [the] one accountable for it all.”

Prosecutors also going to the cover up, saying that Young texted Pledge Master, Daniel Casey:  “Make sure the pledges clean the basement and get rid of the evidence of alcohol.”

Casey replying, “They’re taking care of the basement.”

The hearing is expected to last at least until Tuesday.  A judge will decide if there’s enough evidence to send the case to County Court for trial.
