A taste of fall is yours for the taking as a local business prepares to sell freshly pressed apple cider.
Fuhrman’s Cider Mill is a popular spot in Erie, but it may be more popular for its Cider Shack. The business gets a variety of apples locally, mainly from the North East area. Once the pressing season starts, employees begin the 10 hour process to make thousands of gallons of their famous cider.
They say the combination of apples they use in the cider is the secret ingredient.
“Normally, they’re buying 2, 3, 4 gallons of cider. I believe last year, our first weekend, we went through roughly 900 to 1,000 gallons,” says Chief Cider Maker Austin Addams.
Fuhrmans expects to sell 24,000 gallons of cider from today through the start of the new year.
