It has been less than a week since local businesses announced that come October they will no longer be in their downtown location and onTuesday, city officials met  with them to discuss the possibility of keeping them downtown.

During that meeting the city was looking to see if each of these business had the intention of staying downtown and each indicated that they do and want to move forward.

Khao Thai Restaurant, Tandoori Hut Indian Cuisine and the Casablanca Hookah Lounge and Cafe were told by the Erie Downtown Development Corporation that their lease will not be renewed. The city is now looking to move forward with each individual business to help assess what is best for them,

“From this point on we’ll meet with each one individually because its more of a private matter discussion about their finances and how we help them move ahead, so to me it was a positive discussion they all indicated they want to try and set dow some new roots in a new location, so thet’s what we’re going to do,” said Chris Groner the Director of the Department of Economic and Community Development.

Groner did not comment on where exactly some of the locations could potentially be for these businesses.
