The difference between US and UK weddings…

Local News

The countdown is on to the royal wedding.  Meghan has announced that her dad will not be at the wedding due to medical issues, but Meghan’s Mom, Doria Ragland, has already met the in-laws and we learned today that Prince Charles will be walking Meghan down the aisle.

When they say, ‘I do,’ there will be one major difference, the bride is an American.  That change could have an impact on the ceremony, itself.

In the UK, the bride leads the way down the aisle, with her bridal party trailing behind.  But, that’s not the only difference between the ceremonies.  In America, it’s considered bad taste to wear white if you’re not the bride, but in Britain, the bridesmaids don the color, as well.

Lori Allen, Owner of Bridals by Lori, says, “We like color because, remember, our weddings are going to be later in the day and a tiny bit more formal.”

The focus will shift from Prince Harry to Prince William at the reception, where British wedding-goers expect big things from the best man.  After Harry’s speech as best man in 2011, Prince William has reportedly said, “revenge is sweet”.
