The Erie Art Museum will be starting 2019 with some staffing changes. One of them has affected Curator Susan Barnett. She decided to leave the museum after being offered an assistant Curator position at 25 percent less salary.

“Just disappointed I could tell when Josh Helmer started that it might not be a good fit for me anymore,” said Barnett.

Barnett says the changes are the result of new executive director Josh Helmer and his vision. He’s reportedly indicated he’s trying to get the museum’s staffing and salaries in line with the size of the community. Originally from Milwaukee, Barnett enjoys living and working in Erie.

“I was very pleased to have been able to bring Susan Barnett to the Museum,” said former director  John Vanco.

The Art Museum currently employs 11 workers full time and 5 part time.
