The Erie Philharmonic is giving you the chance to ‘Beat Beethoven’ this Saturday

Local News

Beethoven’s 5th Symphony will be part of the festivities Saturday when runners gather for the 9th Annual Beat Beethoven event.

The Erie Philharmonic will gather in Perry Square Saturday morning and play Beethoven’s 5th Symphony.  Runners will begin their 5k run/1m walk around the streets of Erie while the Phil plays; the trick is to finish the 5k before the Phil finishes the 5th.

The concert is free and there will be a street fair with food trucks and vendors, as well!

Executive Director of the Philharmonic, Steve Weiser, says, “Whenever we do youth concerts for 6,000 kids, or donate a piano for those who can’t afford one; these proceeds help us support these outreach programs”.

The 9th Annual Beat Beethoven 5k will be Saturday, August 25th at Perry Square.  The street fair opens at 9am and the 5k race/1m walk begins at 10am.
