The first ever Government Day was held at the Blasco Library.
Morgan Kingen is the leader of Erie county’s 4 H teen council club. The 4 H’s stand for head, heart, hands, and health. It’s a program open for youth ages 8-18 from different schools.
“I feel rewarded to be part of this group, I love helping them and watching them grow,“ said Kingen.
The group does a variety of projects including live stock, sewing, and cooking. The goal is to have local government officials learn about 4 H and support their organization.
“We wanted to take this chance to bring members of the community out,“ said organizer Shawn Graves.
They are hoping to accomplish more involvement. Members talked about improving their leadership and public speaking skills as soon as they joined. It’s a great way for young people to connect with those that they would have never met before.
