Those who stopped at the daily Bishop’s Breakfast at Saint Paul United Church received an extra gift this morning.
The community donated basic necessities for less fortunate men, women, and children in the area. This morning, more than 70 people stopped in to collect gift bags filled with gloves, hats, socks, blankets, and warm coats. They also enjoyed the usual hot breakfast and coffee.
Bishop Lawrence Persico, of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Erie, says, “A lot of times we think, ‘it’s Christmas,’ we get sentimental, and want to do something, but we have the poor with us all year round, and we can’t forget them.”
Bishop Persico also handed out McDonald’s and Tim Horton’s gift cards to everyone who stopped in.
