A powerful hurricane is headed towards Hawaii, where local leaders are prepping for waves, winds, and potential floods.
Hurricane lane can be seen from space and has winds nearing 150mph. Residents and tourists across the islands are making last-minute preparations for food, water, and gas.
On the big island, all public schools are closed and businesses are boarded up.
Mayor of Maui, Alan Arakawa, says, “I don’t ever believe we’ve had this kind of a magnitude in my life. “
Right now, it appears that the islands will avoid a direct hit, but officials are still warning people to take this storm seriously.
