The City of Erie has been encouraging us to shop locally, and many people showed up to do just that when thousands of shops across Erie opened their doors for small business Saturday.

“It has beat my expectations all my numbers from last year the support from the community has been wonderful,” said Cindy Fredericks owner of The Sassy Peacock.

It’s a chance to help people that you might be friends of neighbors with. Whether it’s clothing, cupcakes, or shoes there’s a small business in town that has it.

“The ability to order so many things online it makes it challenging for small businesses to be successful,” said Heidi Fette Owner of Icing On The Lake.

For those that hate sitting in traffic on their way to the mall, small business Saturday is a easy and convenient way to get holiday shopping done.

“We’ve incorporated all the new sales that we haven’t had in a while,” said Gene Britten sales at Achilles.

Next time you have something in mind that you’d like to purchase just remember that there are local places that could serve all your needs.
